S. S. Huston
Once again, this information, along with most of the pictures, was furnished us by David and Arleta Longenecker. Their mother, Lesta Huston Longenecker had begun the effort of collection and saving and they have continued that effort.

Helen Isadore Huston died August 13, 1928 at Bagley, Iowa and was buried in
Dodge Center Cemetery, near there. Mother always referred to her as "Mother Helen".
This picture would appear to have been taken about 1925 or 1926 since Norman was born in 1919. It is one of the very best father/son portraits I have ever seen.
They both appear supremely confident and self-assured as if the world was turning in their direction.

Sherbern Sherwood Huston married Bertha M. Patterson
August 5, 1933 at Davenport, Iowa
She was given the nickname "Bodie"

Lawton Engelhart & Veda Huston

Lesta, Aunt Mollie, Naomi, back during the 1930's
Naomi (Dinkus) with Bernie in 1940 probably shortly before he moved from Davenport, Iowa to Oregon for health reasons. Naomi moved to Los Angeles about that time. I visited her there when I was in San Diego in the Marines.
She, Veda and Marybelle also visited me in San Diego while I was in quarantine following the end of the war, 1945.

On February 26, 1944 he was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Salem for observation and died very unexpectedly. His widow, Bertha M. Huston died several years later.
MaryBelle & Lou Deane, 1943, at the Schwanke residence near Sweeny, Texas
Sorry, I have no pictures of Norman beyond those above when he was quite small. He married MaryBelle Felton, April 27, 1943, while he was in the Navy.
I will include the following from his funeral program of June 12, 1999.
